We all prefer swimming in water that has a pleasant temperature. The only times pool heating is not required is on hot days with plenty of sunshine in the middle of summer. Nights can get pretty cold during those first and final summer days. At those times, a heated pool is a true pleasure. Your pool heating will allow you to enjoy your investment for an extra couple of months each year. At Leisure Pools, you can heat your pool in three different ways: with a heat pump, with a connection to your central heating system or with a combination of both.
Sustainability is a lot more important nowadays. This also applies to pool heating, which is why a heat pump is a very popular choice. At Leisure Pools we only use air-to-water heat pumps, which extract the heat from the ambient air to heat the pool water. The price of a heat pump is slightly higher than pool heating with a heat exchanger, but over time you will soon recover the additional cost because of the heat pump’s low electricity consumption. If you want to heat your pool on colder days as well, we advise you to complement your heat pump with a connection to your central heating system.
If you want to heat your pool before May and after September, it is best to combine your heat pump with a connection to your existing central heating system. Once temperatures fall below 10°C, a heat pump becomes a lot less efficient. If you are only using your pool sporadically – on Sundays only, for example – it is best to heat your pool with your central heating system alone using a heat exchanger. This device literally exchanges heat between the hot water from your central heating system and the pool water. Heating your pool with your central heating system also offers a number of interesting benefits. Find out more on “Using your central heating system for your pool”.
